This is another repeat of XP SP 2.

Three things to remember when you are working with computers.

First thing is "YOU CAN DO IT".

Second take your time, a little mistake can cause a big problem.

Third all answers are only a question away.

VXD Error Messages at Startup

First thing I do with any error problem is check for a virus, Trojan and spy ware.

Next go to start, run type in

Msconfig

(This will not work with Win 95 although they do have programs out now that will let you do this if you want to download them. I would, it is well worth doing. The web addresses listed at bottom.)

Click on the okay button

Click on the start up tab and remove all checks from the start up except systray.

Reboot, you should not get the error any more.

Next go into msconfig again and put a check in two of them, reboot. Keep doing this till the problem starts again. This will show you what program is causing the problem. Reinstall it or remove it completely.

IF THAT DID NOT WORK:

Here you will be editing the registry but don't worry if you make a mistake it is easy to restore, all except Win 95

After that go to start, run and type in

regedit

Click run

The regedit window will open

Go to the following keys

To do this just

Click on the plus signs next to the name and it will expand.

Look for the next section of the key, press on the plus sign.

The first one would be like this.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
Current Version\Run

Click on the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Click on the plus sign next to Software

Click on the plus sign next to Microsoft and so on till you get to run, run once.

Now the run, run once run service may not all be the same but they all will start with "run"

When you get to the run part, look for the file names that appear in the start up error messages and delete them.

This should solve your problem. I wanted you to do it the other way that way you would have been able to see what programs was causing the problem and then by either completely removing them or reinstalling them would have solved the problem also.

Here are the keys in the regedit to check for the files. Some of these may not be in your registry, if they aren't do not worry about them.

These are msconfig programs for Win 95 and win 2K. On the following site scroll down to the section listed below and download the appropriate program, either Win 95 or Win 2K Msconfig programs

Remove programs from Win 95 and Win 2K:

Win 95 and Win 2K do not have a msconfig file installed from MS. Now there is a msconfig file available for each to download.

Windows 95 users should download the file to the C:\Windows\System folder.

Windows 2000 users should download it to C:\WINNT\system32.

After downloading you can follow the instruction above for Win 98 to remove the programs from start up.

Error: Could not load the enable2.vxd module:

For Win 95 but it might work for Win 98 also.

Restart computer
